Type locality: Tanzania: Mbangara River, pools near bridge just east of Nangomba village, 36 km southwest of Masasi in direction of Tunduru on A19 road (10°53.85'S, 38°33.02'E). Holotype: MRAC 2000.071.P.0227, male, 42.6 mm SL, Wildekamp R.H., Watters B.R. & Cooper B.J, 4 June 1997. Paratypes MRAC 2000.0771.P.0209-0226, 2000.0771.P.0228-0229.
