Current distribution known : Lake Victoria drainage in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Also in Lake Kioga, Lake George, Lake Edward, Lake Albert and adjacent river systems like Rutshuru River and Semliki River .

Habitat / home range : swamps, ricefields, ditches and shallow parts in and around lake Victoria .
Reproduction : near-to-surface spawner, 2 weeks incubation (Huber, Killi-Data online: www.killi-data.org) .
