- Hydrocyonoides cuvieri Castelnau (de), 1861: 66. Type locality: "lac N'gami". Type apparently lost. Neotype: BMNH 1910.5.31.21, Lake Ngami (± 20°30'S-22°40'E) (Botswana).
Use and trade : excellent angling species on light tackle. Also taken in subsistence fisheries .
