  • Current distribution known : occurs in the Indo-West Pacific from the east coast of Africa and Madagascar, north to the Persian Gulf, east to the Philippines and Taiwan, south to Indonesia, through the Arafura Sea, to northwestern Australia. Its occurrence has been recently confirmed in the Red Sea and has been reported as an invasive species in the eastern Mediterranean basin .
