Current distribution known : Low-veld regions of larger east-coast rivers from the Zambezi (Mozambique) south to Mkuze in Kwazulu-Natal (South Africa). Inland, the identity of specimens in the middle Zambezi (Zambia and Zimbabwe) and lower Shire (Malawi) needs to be studied. Probably extant in some regions in Mozambique where there are no records .
