Current distribution known : reliably known from the upper basin of the Oti (Volta basin) in Atakora region in Benin. It has been reported from some coastal rivers in Ghana (Nungu Reserve), the White, Red and Black Volta in Ghana. It is also known from the Ogun, Sokoto, Birnawa and Kaduna Rivers in Nigeria and also in the Mono River, Togo .
