Current distribution known :
occurs in Lake Rukwa and the Wami, Kilombero and Mkata Rivers. It is also found in the Malagarasi River and other tributaries of Lake Tanganyika. In streams flowing into Lake Chilwa in Malawi a species occurs that closely matches the description and types of Enteromius innocens although the type specimens of E. innocens are in poor condition. The reference to this species for north of Lake Malawi is erroneous
