  • Current distribution known : distributed in Lake Tanganyika and surrounding rivers, in Tanzania, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi. In central Africa, it is known from Lake Tanganyika and affluents, the Ruzizi, the Lualaba and the Lukuga system. In eastern Africa, it is present in affluent streams and rivers to Lake Tanganyika, incuding the Malagarasi river and Lake Rukwa system. Its distribution also includes Burundi .
