Barbus pseudotoppini Seegers, 1996: 139-142, fig. 96-99. Type locality: Piti River, an affluent of the Rungwa River, 60 km south of the Rungwa River on the road from Itigi or Rungwa village to Mbeya or Makongolosi, eastern Lake Rukwa drainage, Mbeya Region, Western Tanzania (07°26'S-33°25'E). Holotype MRAC 94.034.P.0481; paratypes ZMH 8560, MRAC 94.034.P.0482-0483, MRAC 94.034.P.0484-0493, ZMH 8561.
