restricted to low-veld sections of rivers on the east coast of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal. It is also widespread in Eswatin. This is a species complex and individuals that range from the northern Mozambique border and inland up the middle Zambezi and north to the Rovuma River, including Lakes Chilwa and Chiuta, belong to an undescribed species
