Clarias galmaensis Aken'Ova, 2011: 46-47, fig. 1. Type locality: Ponds and rivers around Zaria, River Galma, Nigeria. Holotype: BMNH 1981.9.10.1. Not available; no types established. A new species from the Galma River, Zaria, Nigeria. One specimen deposited as BMNH 1981.9.10.1; whereabouts of 78 other specimens unknown. However, in an "Update" in the same journal in vol. 8-9, 2009-2011:100, the author suggests that the specimen sent to the BMNH is now labelled the holotype; the update is accompanied by a brief description. The name is not available from 2007, apparently available from the "Updat." with a minimal description.
