Current distribution known : known mainly from the Mwanza Gulf, where Python Islands harbour the most southern population. Furthermore, known from three islands in the Speke Gulf, while with considerable certainty absent from many other islands and mainland rock shores in the Speke Gulf region .

Food habits / trophic level : feeds predominantly on insect larvae, epilithic sponges, ostracoda, plankton and the detritus that covers the rocks at greater depths. Small snails were also found in stomachs of this species .

Habitat / home range : inhabits moderately steep and steep rocky shores, at depths between 2 and at least 10 m. On moderately steep slopes it is usually found somewhat offshore, while, on steep slopes, it can be found immediately inshore among boulders and in deep rock pools, sometimes at less than 2 m depth .
