Current distribution known :
known from the Democratic Republic of Congo south to South Africa. In central Africa it is known from Katanga and Lake Mweru. In eastern Africa, It is distributed throughout the Malagarasi, and Rufiji and Ruaha river systems. Also found in the Lower Shire in Malawi. In outhern Africa, this species is widespread and fairly common in the middle and lower Zambezi south to the Phongolo River in South Africa
