  • Condition / length-weight relationship : Samar et al., 2022 .
  • Current distribution known : native to northeastern Algeria and northern Tunisia. Its range extends west from the Sebaou River in Algeria to the Medjerda River, which drains into the Mediterranean Sea north of Tunis, although it remains unclear whether the Sebaou population is natural or was introduced from the nearby Soummam River. In Algeria a lacustrine population inhabits Lake Oubeira, while the species appears to have been extirpated from the northern Chott Melrhir catchment .

  • Habitat / home range : a small size fish that inhabits both permanent and intermittent rivers and tributaries plus at least one natural lake, and is apparently able to colonise artificial reservoirs located above dams. Subpopulations inhabiting temporal stretches survive dry periods in remnant pools which act as refugia .
