Current distribution known : affluents of the Lualaba (upper Congo River basin), Rusizi and Lake Tanganyika in Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania. Also reported from the upper Kagera drainage in Rwanda .
Habitat / home range : occurs in streams and small rivers with rocky bottoms .
