Current distribution known : middle Congo River mainstream and rivers Tshuapa, Lomela, Itimbiri and Lomami in Democratic Republic of the Congo .
Food habits / trophic level : microphagous, especially an entomophagous species, but micro-organisms, fish eggs and small insect larvae were found in the stomach contents (Matthes 1964) .
Habitat / home range : mainly found in the vegetated borders of small streams where it holds itself between the vegetation in the current (Matthes 1964) .
Morphology / anatomy : Seegers, 2008 .
Reproduction : adult specimens collected in September are sexually ripe. Females are found to contain 40-50 large yellow eggs 2.5-2.75 in diameter (Seegers, 2008) .
Size : 101 mm TL .
