Ctenochromis pectoralis Pfeffer, 1893 a: 153, fig. 3. Type locality: "Korogwe am Rufu". Lectotype ZMH n° H 402 (designated by Ladiges et al., 1958); paralectotypes (9) ZMH n° H 403| Pfeffer (1893) mentions two type specimens from "Mopeia, rio Quaqua" and additional specimens from Boma. Both are considered as doubtful distribution records for this species
