- Labidochromis joanjohnsonae Johnson, 1974 (part.): Johnson, 1974: 15, paratype only (Fig. 2 incorrectly labelled as holotype of L. joanjohnsonae by Johnson, 1974, is neither the paratype of this species: see Lewis, 1980 a: 962).
- Labidochromis textilis (part.) Oliver, 1975: 320, fig. 1-5. Type locality: "Aquarium specimen exported from Lake Malawi, probably collected at Likoma Island". Holotype BMNH n° 1975.5.27: 9; paratypes BMNH n° 1975.5.27: 10-13, AMNH (3) n° 32.413, n° 33.465 (paratype of L. joanjohnsonae). The other paratypes numbers given in Oliver"s paper belong to other species
