  • Current distribution known : along East African coast from South Africa (Pondoland) northward to the Red Sea and west Indian Ocean Islands. Records of Periophthalmus schlosseri (Pallas, 1770) from Seychelles by Regan (1908: 254) and Hornell (1927: 238) probably based on misidentifications of Periophthalmus koelreuteri africanus (Smith & Smith, 1963: 47) .
  • Habitat / home range : both littoral and estuarine. Able to climb out of water, in mangrove swamps and burrowing into intertidal mud banks .
  • Size : 95 mm SL .
