  • Current distribution known : Sudan, Niger, Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso (Upper Volta), Chad and Cameroon. Also known from Egypt and the Central African Republic .
  • Ecology : not a seasonal killifish | Roman, 1975 b .
  • Habitat / home range : small rivers, brooks and swamps in the open and forested Sudan savanna .
  • Size : 35 mm TL .
  • Types :
    • ? Aplocheilichthys flavipinnis Meinken, 1932 b: 54, fig. 2. Type locality: "Küstennahe Hinterland von Lagos". Syntypes ZMHU, registration number unknown.
    • Aplocheilichthys longicauda Blache & Milton, 1960 c: 214. Type locality: "Ruisseau Mini à Karang (marigots sous galerie du bassin du Logone Moyen)", southwestern Chad (11°58'N-15°09'E). Syntypes MNHN n° 1959-225 (31) and 1959-410 (1).
    • Aplocheilichthys pfaffi Daget, 1954: 324, fig. 124. Type locality: "Upper Niger" in Mali and Guinea. Syntypes MNHN n° 1954-16 (6) and 1960-417 to 423 (124).
