  • Current distribution known : occurs in the Indo-West Pacific and Red Sea. It occurs in eastern Africa and South Africa, Madagascar and the Persian Gulf east to Palau and Fiji, north to the Ryukyu Islands (Japan) and south to Queensland (Australia) .
  • Habitat / home range : occurs in freshwater, brackish and marine habitats, including mangroves, mud and sand flats, seagrasses, and algae. In Madagascar, it is frequently found in the lower reaches of tidally influenced rivers .
