Current distribution known :
a wide distribution in southern and eastern Africa. In eastern Africa, present in the western confluences to Lake Malawi and also known from the Malagarazi River basin but its presence in Lake Chiuta and Lake Rukwa is uncertain. In central Africa, unambiquous evidence for the presence of this species in the Bangweulu-Mweru area (and consequently the Congo basin) is still lacking. It is likely, however, that the Congo Basin specimens referred to this species represent more than one species. This species must therefore remove from the Congo fauna. In southern Africa, it is known from the Rovuma River system
