Current distribution known :
found from the Niger delta to the Congo basin. In Central Africa, it occurs in the Cameroon-Gabon area extending to the south along the coastal lowlands of Gabon to Congo. It is also known from the Dja basin in Central Congo river basin. In Western Africa it is known from Cameroon extending westwards to the Niger delta. It seems to be abundant in small forested rivers and apparently does not occur to the west of the Niger, since all reported occurrences for that area have been shown to correspond to other species
