Current distribution known :
occurs in Lake Victoria and affluents rivers such as the Nzoia River and the Nyando River. It has also been reported from the Middle Akagera system, downstream of the Rusumo Falls, in Rwanda. Within the main lake there are few confirmed localities but this may be due to difficulties in identification rather than restricted range

found in streams, rivers and lakes. In the Lake Victoria system it appears in rivers and lake-side streams during rains, and in the dry season it is found along the shores of the lake (adults) or in floodwater pools (juveniles)
