Barbus acuticeps Matthes, 1959 c: 62. Type locality: "Rivière Nyawarongo à Mbuye, au nord du lac Rugwero, Ruanda, dans marais à Papyrus et chenaux". Holotype MRAC n° 130.313; paratypes MRAC n° 130.310 to 130.312 and 130.314 (130.310 from Kogera River (Rusuma falls), the others from type locality).
