Current distribution known :
known from the streams in the Ruwenzori area, including Ruimi, Mubuku and Sibwe rivers. All available occurrence records are more than 30 years old. A recent expedition of the Lake Edward system did not encounter the species in its known native range, but the species is still possibly extant as the searches may not have been intense
.

possibly occurs in fast running waters with many boulders behind which it takes shelter
