Common names : Parma Somerenova (Czech), Someren's barb (English), Somereni pardkala (Estonian), Ifurwe / Ikinanga / Inkwenwe / Urwozi [Rwanda (Kinyarwanda): Rwanda] .
Current distribution known : found in the Sibwe, Mubuku, Tokwe and Kirimia Rivers in the Ruwenzori area. In Rwanda it is known from the Middle (Lake Ihema) and Upper (Nyabarongo, Akanyaru, Mutamphu, Nyabugogo, Mwogo, Satinsyi and Kiryango Rivers) Akagera River system It is also found in the Rusizi and Malagarazi River basins in Burundi and from the Chirangobwe River (Lake Kivu basin) .

Habitat / home range : found in fast-flowing rivers in the Ruwenzori area, with upper limit of 5.500 feet. Inhabits the headwaters of rivers at high altitudes .
