Current distribution known :
known from Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Tanzania. In central Africa, it occurs in the southern course of the Central Congo River basin: from Cafunfo, Kwango River and from Dundo Luachimo River. It is widely distributed in the Upper Congo River basin. Specimens from the Mpozo River in Lower Congo have tentatively been identified as L. dhonti, but these require further investigation. In eastern Africa, this species is present in the Malagarasi River basin
