Type locality: "Olifants River system, Clanwilliam Division: in an irrigation furrow of the Jan Diesels River in Bosch Kloof, Clanwilliam: Boontjes River, Citrusdal; and in a side tributary of the farm Noordhoek". Lectotype SAM n° 29.231, paralectotypes SAM n° 22.467 and 19.359. (designated by Skelton, 1981: 267).
