  • Current distribution known : only certainly known by the type specimen. Other specimens of this species have been misidentified. It was previously thought to be known from the Chad, Niger, Volta, Senegal and Ouémé basins, but it may just be endemic to the Niger basin .
  • Food habits / trophic level : it preys on small fish, particularly Alestes spp; also feeds on insects, crustaceans, molluscs and vegetable matter .
