Type localities: "Zaïre mainstream at Tadi near Kibunzi (05°14'S-13°56'E); Zaïre mainstream a few km NE of Kinanga (05°31'S-13°37'E); Zaïre mainstream near Inga hydroelectric dam (05°16'S-13°47'E)". Holotype MCZ n° 50.292; paratypes MCZ n° 50.293, 50.377, 50.530, BMNH n° 1976.5.21: 22 and MRAC n° 75-2-P-3 to 4.
