Reproduction :
the species is ovoviviparous, and the male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail. Sexual maturity is attained at approximately 10 cm standard length with males retaining up to 44 embryos. 28: The presence of breeding individuals and juveniles indicated that the spawning period of the species occurs in spring and summer, coinciding with warmer water temperatures and enhanced food resources, with reproductive activity peaking. The mean number of mature oocytes in the females is about 270-486
