Cyrtocara anagenys Oliver, 1984: 218, fig. 49-53. Type locality: "in 27-60 m depth, over sand with rocks, 20-200 m offshore from Thumbi Island West, Lake Malawi, Malawi, at a bay on the south shore of the island 200 m E. of its western tip (14° 01' 00 S-34° 48' 23 E)". Holotype USNM n° 304.657; paratypes USNM n° 304.658-659 (4).
