  • Habitat / home range : found in the main river where it lives near the bands of reeds and vegetation fringing the river on places with a moderate current. It is also common in several small and moderate affluents sometimes with rather strong current. Moreover, it was caught near Uvinza between the rests of burnt-down grasses and reeds on the flooded river banks in very shallow water .

  • Reproduction : most probably a female mouthbrooder species. Ripe eggs are orange-yellow and rather large, 4 x 3 mm. The ovaries of a ripening female contained about 40 developing eggs. A wild caught female from near Uvinza which was kept in captivity released between 15 and 25 young per brood .
